Sweden develops a new type of warship Luleå to replace Visby class corvettes
The Swedish Navy will be armed with Luleå-class warships. They are intended to replace the Visby corvettes.
Sweden intends to build four Luleå-class ships. The first ones will be ready in 2030. The Swedish Ministry of Defense claims that they will be superior to any ships currently in service with the country’s Navy.
The Luleå class ships will be named after cities located along the Swedish coast from north to west. They are of great importance to the Swedish Navy.
The first ship will be called HSwMS Luleå, and the rest will be called HSwMS Norrköping, HSwMS Trelleborg and HSwMS Halmstad. Their names were approved by the King of Sweden. Carl XVI Gustaf.
