Swiss engineers have shown a miracle robot that can carry a person like a mule

Swiss engineers have demonstrated a four-legged mule robot that can carry both a person and equipment on horseback – if they do not exceed 90 kilograms.

The robomul, named “Bari,” can accurately maintain balance even with a maximum load thanks to motion control algorithms that are aimed at balancing the robot, told the IEEE Spectrum.

What the Bari robot can do

According to tests by engineers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Bari can walk for two and a half hours with a full load and cover almost 10 kilometers.

The maximum speed that Bari can reach with a load is 7.2 kilometers per hour. The robomulus itself weighs only 48 kilograms, which is similar to less heavy four-legged robots.

For comparison, the Spot robot from Boston Dynamics weighs 32 kilograms but lifts an average of 14 kilograms of load, and ANYmal, which lifts a similar weight, weighs 50 kilograms.

Bari’s developers hope that they will soon start producing it for sale, for example, to builders or the military.
