Tesla Cybertruck Loses Popularity in the US Due to Musk’s Political Position
The revolutionary electric pickup Tesla Cybertruck shows a dramatic decline in sales in the American market. In February 2024, only 2,619 vehicles were sold, which is 32.5% less compared to the previous month. The situation is causing concern among investors and automotive industry experts.
Reasons for Sales Decline and Tesla’s Measures
According to InsideEVs, analysts note several key factors behind the sharp drop in demand for Tesla Cybertruck’s futuristic pickup. Experts cite Elon Musk’s controversial political position as the main reason, which is actively deterring traditional Tesla buyers. A significant portion of brand customers are showing their dissatisfaction by refusing to purchase new vehicles and even putting sarcastic stickers on their already purchased Teslas.
Another important factor was the radical nature of the Cybertruck’s design. The unusual futuristic appearance of the electric pickup proved too revolutionary for the conservative American market. Sales statistics confirm this trend – while about 17,000 vehicles were sold in the third quarter of last year, in the last quarter of 2024, this figure dropped to 13,000 units.
Against the backdrop of Tesla’s overall 10% sales decline in the US, the company is taking active measures to stabilize the situation. In particular, a decision was made to optimize production – some workers from the Cybertruck assembly line were transferred to Model Y production.
To stimulate sales, Tesla has introduced a loyalty program. Buyers of the limited Foundation Series receive lifetime free charging at proprietary Supercharger stations. Additionally, the company has significantly reduced lease rates for purchasing the electric pickup, trying to make the model more accessible to a wider range of buyers.
The future of Tesla Cybertruck remains uncertain as the company tries to balance innovative design with market expectations. Elon Musk’s political activism continues to impact the brand’s reputation, which is reflected in sales.
