Tesla recalls about 200 thousand. cars due to a software malfunction

Tesla recalls nearly 200,000 vehicles in the US due to a software glitch that caused the rearview camera to malfunction when the car is in reverse
This was reported by the Associated Press.

Certain Y, S, and X models from the 2023 model year are subject to recall. All of them are equipped with the Full Self-Driving 4.0 computer.

According to documents published by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, software instability can cause the camera image to not be displayed when the Tesla is reversed. The safety agency claims that this can increase the risk of an accident.

Tesla claims that it is not aware of any accidents or injuries. The documents say that the problem was resolved by an online software update.

The owners will be notified by letter starting on March 22.

Tesla began receiving complaints about the problem in late December and decided to issue a recall on January 12. As of January 22, the company had 81 warranty claims potentially related to this issue.

Despite having a “full autonomous driving” system, Tesla is not capable of driving on its own, and human drivers must be ready to intervene at any time.

On Monday, January 15, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that he wants to increase his stake in the company to about 25%.
