The 300th successful Falcon 9 launch puts a communications satellite into orbit (video)

SpaceX launched the Merah Putih 2 communications satellite into orbit on February 20, Space reports.

The Falcon 9 rocket with the satellite was launched from the Cape Canaveral Spaceport in Florida at 22:11 Kyiv time.

This was the 300th successful mission for the Falcon 9 launch vehicle.

The upper stage of the rocket launched Merah Putih 2 into a geosynchronous transfer orbit 34.5 minutes after launch.

A satellite weighing 4 thousand tons. kilometers will provide high-speed Internet to customers in Indonesia for the next 15 years. It will be operated by the state-owned Indonesian telecommunications company Telkomsat.

This launch was the 16th for SpaceX in 2024. Three of this year’s launches took place on February 14 and 15, when the company launched the classified USSF-124 mission for the US Space Force, the private IM-1 mission, and a new batch of Starlink satellites.

SpaceX representatives said the company plans to launch 144 orbital missions in 2024.
