The 44th Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine receives Polish Rosomak armored personnel carriers and German Leopard 1A5 tanks

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to modernize, receiving the latest military equipment from Western partners. This time, Polish Rosomak armored personnel carriers and German Leopard 1A5 tanks were added to the list of their combat vehicles, which were sent to the 44th Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine. This was reported by Military Land and a number of military analysts.

The Rosomak armored personnel carrier, manufactured by Polish Armaments Group, is equipped with the Hitfist-30P combat module. It is equipped with a Mk.44 automatic cannon, a 7.62 mm machine gun, night vision devices and a laser rangefinder. Some vehicles of this type have already been delivered to Ukraine, but information about the specific unit that uses them is still unknown.

Ukraine has reportedly ordered 200 of these vehicles for its army in 2023, the first 100 of which will be delivered during the same year.

It is worth noting that the 44th Brigade already has machines of this type in use. They also have Slovenian Valuk armored personnel carriers, which were delivered to the military two months ago.

The 44th Mechanized Brigade also received German Leopard 1A5 tanks. Given the volume of tanks promised, it is expected that a full battalion of these tanks will be included in the brigade.

The 44th Mechanized Brigade, also known as the “Polish” brigade, was formed in 2023. It is one of the youngest combat brigades in Ukraine. Most of the soldiers of this brigade are currently in Poland for training, but the source noted that the brigade is already successfully using BMP-1 armored infantry vehicles donated by Poland on the frontline near Kreminna. The other two battalions will also receive KTO Rosomak.
