The 47th Magura Mech Brigade denies Associated Press information on Abrams withdrawal

The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura” is the only operator of Abrams tanks in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

After information emerged that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had withdrawn Abrams tanks from the front line, the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces issued an official statement.

The decision was reported by the Associated Press, citing its own sources in the Pentagon, who explained that the decision was made after the loss of 5 out of 31 Abrams, in the face of the dominance of drones that both conduct reconnaissance and destroy tanks.

However, Magura said that Abrams have proven themselves on the battlefield and will not be hidden from the enemy and will not leave the infantry without their support. They also added that “for what purpose, where and what the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being deployed is not something we will comment on publicly.”

Defense Express notes that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov noted the prudent use of Abrams back in September 2013. He noted that this tank should be used in breakthrough operations, not in a general battle where “they will not live long.”

At the same time, the realities of war dictate their own rules, including the need to use weapons in conditions that are far from ideal for them or for which they were not conceptually designed. It should also be noted that if we measure the suitability of certain tanks by the amount of losses, then what can we say about Soviet vehicles and their modernization?

Moreover, the real effectiveness of a particular type of weapon can only be measured in the case of mass use, not single samples.
