The Armed Forces of Ukraine delivered powerful blows to the Russian army: the General Staff reported on the situation at the front

Ukrainian artillery successfully destroys the positions of the Russian Armed Forces, but the occupiers do not stop shelling civilian infrastructure.

In the last day, on December 16, Ukrainian troops hit seven major positions of the Russian army. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on this in a summary on the official Facebook page.

On Friday, the artillery and missile forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine delivered powerful strikes on personnel in five districts, where the Russian Armed Forces had withdrawn their soldiers, and destroyed one command post and an ammunition warehouse. In addition, defenders of Ukraine repelled Russian attacks in more than twenty settlements and their surroundings along the front line. In particular, near Ploschanka, Krasnopopivka, Bilogorivka in the Luhansk region, as well as Bakhmut, Opytny, Zelenopilla, Andriivka, Maryinka, Peremogy, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.

The General Staff notes that the Russian army does not remain aloof and also attacks Ukraine, primarily civilian and energy infrastructure facilities. During the day, the Russians used 98 missiles and carried out more than 65 strikes with the help of rocket launchers.

On the Slobozhansk and Siversk directions, the Russians shelled from the Gai artillery in the Chernihiv region; Gavrylova Sloboda, Seredyna-Buda, Yastrubyna and Kondrativka in Sumy; Strelecha, Staritsa, Ambarna, Vilkhovatka, Dvorichna and Krasnaya in Kharkiv regions. On Kupyansk, Sinkivka, Orlyanka, Tabaivka, Berestov and Vyshneve in the Kharkiv region, as well as Volodymyrivka and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region, were damaged by enemy fire.

On the Avdiyiv and Bakhmut directions, the Russian army attacked more than twenty-five settlements of the Donetsk region, including Verkhnyokamyanye, Spirne, Bilogorivka, Vesele, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Pervomayske, Zalizne, Opytne, Maryinka. In the Lymansky direction, the occupiers shelled the positions of the Armed Forces near Makiyivka, Ploshanka, Chervonopivka, Dibrova, and Hirsky, Luhansk region.

Russia also continues to conduct artillery fire from civilian infrastructure along the right bank of the Dnipro River in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. During the day, the occupiers shelled more than 35 settlements, including the recently liberated regional center – Kherson. At the same time, the Russian army is redeploying troops from Kakhovka and Novaya Kakhovka to the Nizhny Syrogoz region. Russian servicemen tell local residents that the Russian Armed Forces will leave Kakhovka by the end of 2022 and offer to move to occupied Crimea.

The day before, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation reported successful strikes on military facilities of the Russian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. As a result of the actions of the Ukrainian military, the occupiers suffered great losses, and now they are forced to burn the bodies of the dead in the crematoria opened in Tokmok.

There was information that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could liberate Crimea by February 2023. Such a forecast was voiced by the former commander of US forces in Europe, retired general Ben Godges.
