The Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated the combat use of the Backfire attack drone

At the end of last year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces began using Backfire UAVs on the front line. A total of 130 flights were made. This became known from Ilya Shpolyansky, commander of the “Evil Birds” consolidated drone unit.

On Facebook, the military said that 60% of combat missions were carried out by Backfire drones in the second quarter of this year. MLRS, electronic warfare equipment, artillery installations, observation posts, arsenals, etc. were damaged.

Back in the day, Backfire developers started their journey with a single experimental prototype. At the moment, they are producing drones in small batches. Since then, they have improved the fuselage and electronics. The designers are not going to stop there. The work on UAV improvement will continue.

Backfire has no communication channels. It works offline. The aircraft is invisible to electronic warfare equipment. Before launching, a flight task is loaded into Backfire. After hitting the target at the coordinates specified in the data, the drone returns. The main competitive advantage of UAVs is their silence. It is almost inaudible.

  • Radius: 55 km;
  • Load capacity: 4 kg (two rounds of ammunition);
