The Armed Forces showed the launch of the Swedish RBS-17 anti-ship guided missile at a ground target
The Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated how they use Swedish RBS-17 anti-ship missiles to strike enemy ground targets.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine received 17 sets of RBS-17 anti-ship missile systems as part of the third package of military aid from Stockholm. The Ministry of Defense of Sweden announced their transfer at the end of the first half of this year.
The RBS-17 is an improved version of the AGM-114 Hellfire guided anti-tank missile. Unlike Hellfire, which is carried by unmanned aerial vehicles such as the MQ-1C Gray Eagle or helicopters, the Swedish missile is launched from ships or compact launchers. The last option, in fact, was demonstrated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The anti-ship missile is equipped with a warhead weighing 9 kg and has a range of 9 km. The total weight is 48 kg. It can be used as an anti-tank missile. In flight, the RBS-17 develops a speed of about 1600 km/h (М=1.3). Guidance is performed by a laser beam.
