The characteristics of the SAMP-T air defense system, which competes with Patriot, are revealed

On May 15, La Stampa journalists reported on the transfer of SAMP-T SAMS to the Ukrainian army. It is a fully digital system capable of simultaneously hitting 16 targets at a distance of over 100 km with Aster 30 missiles. As with Patriot, it can be used to destroy ballistic missiles.

The air defense system is developed by the Eurosam consortium. Until recently, there were only three SAMP-T countries in the world: France, Italy and Singapore. After the Ukrainian army received the SAMP-T system, there were four of them. The SAM is effective not only against “ballistic missiles” but also drones, airplanes, helicopters and cruise missiles.

Technical characteristics:

One battery consists of a combat control cabin, 6 units of PU and a multifunctional ARABEL radar. Launchers can be located 10 kilometers from the control cabin. The SAMP-T engages enemy aircraft at a range of 3-100 km. According to ballistics, the system can operate at a distance of 3-25 km.
