The end of the Kaspersky era, the US bans Russian antivirus

The administration of US President Joe Biden has decided to ban the sale of Kaspersky Lab products. The reason is ties to Russia, which could threaten the United States, Reuters reports.

“Kaspersky can access American computers and the confidential information stored in them. This could threaten US national security, the government believes, especially as the software is used by critical infrastructure and government agencies.

Russia has shown that it has the capacity and intent to use Russian companies, such as Kaspersky, to collect and use personal information of Americans, which is why we have to take action.
Gina Raimondo, U.S. Secretary of Commerce

Kaspersky Lab is not happy with this decision. They believe that the integrity of products and services was not assessed, and attention was paid to the political situation in the world.

The US government is confident that it can reduce the number of cyberattacks on the state in this way. The company assures that it does not threaten the national security of the United States and will use every opportunity to stay.

According to the new restrictions, American companies have until September 29 to find an alternative and abandon Kaspersky.
