The end of the Nokia smartphone era, HMD will now produce its devices under its own brand
HMD Global, which until recently produced devices under the Nokia brand, has announced a new stage in its operations. From now on, the company will sell its devices without the Nokia branding, marking the expected end of Nokia Mobile smartphones. HMD also announced a new product portfolio that includes smartphones, tablets, and wireless headphones. The first smartphones under the HMD brand are expected to be presented at MWC Barcelona on February 26-29.
HMD’s official website states that the company is a “manufacturer of Nokia phones,” which may indicate future Nokia-branded devices, but this probably only applies to feature phones.
HMD plans to release new phones that will be durable, fun, secure, fast, and affordable. Most of the current Nokia-branded devices are currently on sale at a discount while supplies last.
Nokia Corporation remains a global leader in network equipment and a leading patent licensee in mobile technology, with more than 6,000 patent families relevant to 5G.
