The European Union is ready to pay for Starlink services in Ukraine

The authorities of the European Union are considering the possibility of allocating funds to pay for Starlink provider services in Ukraine. This became known from Gabrielus Landsbergis, who is the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

In an interview with a Politico correspondent, the Lithuanian diplomat said that this topic was raised by Josep Borrell. Several EU countries have agreed to pay for the provider’s services. Landsbergis proposed to conclude an agreement between the members of the coalition of European states that agreed to pay for Starlink broadcasting on the territory of Ukraine.

According to the FT, Borrell ordered to develop a plan to provide subscribers with satellite Internet. European countries can establish a fund to pay for Starlink services. He will conclude an agreement with the SpaceX company to provide services to Ukrainian subscribers.

FT sources claim that the European Union may order satellite Internet services from competing operators. European officials believe that in this case broadcasting services will be cheaper for coalition members.
