The first Mark VI boat for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is almost ready – SAFE Boats

Even before the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the United States promised to transfer 16 patrol boats to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This week, the Port of Tahoma Authority released a video of the first Mark VI boat of eight that will be part of the first batch.

The boat manufacturer is SAFE Boats. The amount of the contract concluded with her was 600 million USD. Boats for the Armed Forces will be built as part of the Foreign Military Sale state program. SAFE Boats received the first tranche in the amount of USD 19 million at the beginning of 2021.

Specifications:

  • Body length: 25.8 m.
  • Displacement: 72 tons.
  • Draft: 2.5 m.
  • Crew: 10 people.
  • Speed: 83 km/h.
  • Armament: Bushmaster II guns (30-mm).

The US Army has 16 such boats in service. At the moment, they are temporarily out of service.
