The first “Polish” K239 missile systems appeared in photos

The Polish delegation that arrived in South Korea was shown three K239 MLRSs on an updated platform. Their photos were published by the press service of the Polish Ministry of Defense.

The K239 MLRS is manufactured by Hahwha Defense. The chassis is a Polish Jelcz 8×8 truck. According to Mariusz Blaszczak, Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and head of the Defense Ministry, South Korean missile systems are very modern. They are compatible with American equipment.

Korean engineers have installed the K239 Chunmoo launcher on the Polish heavy-lift truck Jelcz. In addition, they integrated it with the Polish-made TOPAZ combat control system. The first three Jelcz 8×8 trucks were delivered to South Korea from Poland in late spring.

According to the agreement, the South Korean company is to supply Poland with 288 missile systems, 218 of which will be assembled in South Korea and the remaining 70 in Poland. Thus, the agreement covers not only MLRS themselves, but also their production technologies.

Earlier, Blashchak said that the first MLRSs would be transferred to the Iron Division. The newly formed 18th Artillery Regiment is likely to receive them. The K239 Chunmoo is capable of firing 120-, 227- and 239-mm rocket projectiles, as well as 600-mm Ure-2 tactical missiles. By the way, the Korean missile system is compatible with HIMARS GMLRS missiles.
