The German Air Force brought more than 10 fighters to the runway for an “elephant walk.

The Richthofen and Steinhoff fighter squadrons in Laage organized an “elephant walk.”
“Good morning. We have a few more photos from the Elephant Walk of our Richthofen and Steinhoff squadrons in Laag that we don’t want to hide. We wish you a good end of the year,” the post reads.
It is worth noting that the photos show Eurofighter Typhoon fighters. Germany has 181 aircraft in service.
“Elephant Walk” is an act of force demonstration that shows a high level of readiness, training and sheer military power. Dozens of airplanes are brought to the runway and follow each other at a short distance. This maneuver requires high skills of the pilots.
The origin of this term goes back to the Second World War. At that time, a huge number of Allied bombers carried out attacks on designated targets. Witnesses of those events say that visually it resembled elephants walking to the next watering hole.
