The issue of the transfer of long-range missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for HIMARS has been resolved – Reuters

This week, Washington will announce another package of defense aid to Kyiv. Its cost will be more than 2 billion USD. Reuters sources claim that the package will include long-range missiles for HIMARS complexes.

In addition to missiles, the Pentagon leadership included in the package high-precision ammunition, equipment for the Patriot air defense system, as well as the Javelin ATGM. It is worth noting that there will be no question of the transfer of ATACMS missiles to the Armed Forces. In Washington, as before, this step is considered a ‘red line’. The Pentagon will hand over GLSDB missiles developed by Saab and Boeing engineers to the Ukrainian army. Thanks to this, Ukrainian HIMARS calculations will be able to strike the enemy from a distance of up to 150 km.

The GLSDB is a modified Boeing GBU-39 bomb with a GMLRS rocket engine. The exact cost of the ammunition is unknown. One GLSDB rocket is estimated to cost 40,000 USD. For comparison: the cost of one ATACMS missile exceeds 1 million USD.

According to the statement of Vadym Skibitskyi from GUR, made by him on January 26, the Russian army draws conclusions from its mistakes. Occupiers no longer set up arsenals near the front. They store ammunition deep in the rear. Ukrainian HIMARS calculations cannot reach their warehouses with the help of GMLRS rockets.
