The KF-21 Boramae fighter prototype developed supersonic speed for the first time
The South Korean company Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) continues work on the KF-21 Boramae multipurpose fighter. On the eve of the test flight, the prototype was able to develop supersonic speed for the first time.
The aircraft was tested over the southern waters of Korea. The prototype of the KF-21 multipurpose fighter climbed to an altitude of 12,000 meters and for the first time developed a speed of Mach 1 (343 m/h, 1234.5 km/h). The test flight lasted 56 minutes.
KAI has already presented five KF-21 Boramae prototypes. The presentation of the latter took place at the end of November. The company plans to create another prototype fighter, which will be the last. The cost of the development program will be $5.2 billion. 80% will be financed by South Korea, 20% will be invested by Indonesia.
By the way, the fighter prototype announced in the fall is intended for Indonesia. However, he remains in South Korea as Jakatra has yet to pay his share.
