The minister said when Ukrainian pilots will go to learn to fly on Western fighter jets

Ukrainian military pilots will go to learn to fly on foreign fighters after a political decision is made and funding is allocated. Oleksiy Reznikov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, announced on the air of the telethon.

“There was a decision of one of the representative bodies of the USA. We are waiting for the decision of the second and after that the decision of the president [Joe Biden],” said the minister.

According to Reznikov, the US has announced its intention to offer pilot training and finance this process.

“The intention to transfer [fighters] F15, F16 to us – I would not be in a hurry with such information. Such an intention has not yet been announced publicly,” he said.

The minister emphasized that Ukraine is conducting negotiations on new military aircraft not only with the USA, but also with other countries.

“Our pilots are absolutely capable of mastering modern aviation systems,” added Reznikov.

In the summer, it became known that the US House of Representatives voted to allocate $100 million in the 2023 budget for the training of Ukrainian military pilots. These funds were supposed to be used to prepare them for flights on Western fighters.
