The Ministry of Defense has expanded the list of persons eligible for military service – order

According to Defense Ministry Order 490, from now on, people who were previously considered “limitedly fit” for health reasons will be called up for military service. In addition, the requirements for physical health for persons who will serve in the airborne assault troops and marines during wartime have been simplified.

This was reported by Ukrainian Military Pages.

According to the publication, from now on, people with the following list of diseases will be recognized as eligible under the “controversial” articles:

  • 2 – clinically cured tuberculosis;
  • 4-c – viral hepatitis with minor dysfunction;
  • 5-c – asymptomatic HIV;
  • 13-c – diseases of the endocrine system with minor dysfunctions;
  • 14-c – mild short-term painful manifestations of mental disorders;
  • 17-c – neurotic, stress-related and somatomorphic disorders with moderate, short-term manifestations, with asthenic state;
  • 21-c – slowly progressive diseases of the central nervous system;
  • 22-c – episodic and paroxysmal disorders.

It is emphasized that now the Military Qualification Commission must pass a resolution on the fitness of “limitedly fit” servicemen for service in a particular military specialty.

If a serviceman is found unfit for service in his military specialty, the commander may refer him to the military qualification commission to determine his fitness for service in a new military specialty.

It is clarified that the procedure for military service by persons recognized as partially fit is determined by the Regulation on the Military Service of Citizens of Ukraine in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
