The most expensive target ever hit by an FPV drone: Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed occupants’ Tor SAM worth over $24 million (video)
Soldiers of the “Wings to Hell” unit of the 103rd Terrorist Defense Brigade set fire to and destroyed a Russian Tor SAM with several drones in the Kupyansk sector. It is noted that such a complex costs more than $24 million.
A video of the destruction of Russian expensive equipment was posted on his Telegram channel by civic activist Serhiy Sternenko.
“The most expensive target destroyed in the history of FPV use,” the activist captioned the video.
Sternenko also added that this is the second Tor surface-to-air missile system on the unit’s account in a month. The first complex was seriously damaged by the fighters, but unfortunately, he managed to escape, but the second one was completely destroyed.
It is known that the Tor air defense system is an effective air defense weapon at an altitude of up to 6 km.
The Tor system is designed to protect important administrative, economic and military facilities, as well as the first echelons of ground troops from attacks by anti-radar and cruise missiles, remotely piloted aircraft, airplanes and helicopters.
It provides protection against targets moving at speeds of up to 700 m/s at distances of 0.5 to 12 km and at altitudes of 10 m to 6 km.
This weapon is credited with the ability to move to a combat position very quickly, scan the sky closely, and fire missiles.
A missile destroys an airplane, helicopter, drone, or missile, and not necessarily because it hits it. The missile detonates the charge in the air in such a way as to destroy the target with maximum probability.
An anti-aircraft missile covers a distance of about 1000 meters in a second.
