The newest Chinese electric car lost its battery while driving (video)

The Geely Cao Cao 60 electric car is equipped with a quick-release battery that can be replaced at a special station. For this reason, its fastening to the chassis is weak.

An unusual accident occurred in the Chinese city of Chengdu. The battery of the Geely Cao Cao 60 electric car fell off on the move. The video was posted on Twitter by blogger ray4tesla.

The video shows that the entire battery of the Geely Cao Cao 60 fell out of the bottom and ended up on the asphalt. Naturally, after that, the electric car was unable to continue driving.

The incident was most likely caused by a loose battery mount due to the unusual design of the electric car. The fact is that the battery in the Geely Cao Cao 60 is quick-release – it can be replaced at special stations in just 5 minutes.

This way, the electric car will not have to be charged – instead, it will be fitted with a fresh battery. In addition, it allows you to sell a car at a lower price without a battery and lease it.

The Geely Cao Cao sub-brand was launched in China only three months ago. The brand will produce low-cost electric cars.

The budget electric crossover coupe Geely Cao Cao 60 starts at $17,400. It is equipped with a 163-horsepower engine and has a range of 415 km.
