“The Novator-2 from Ukrainian Armor was shown in full detail in a video

What does the updated version of the Novator-2 armored vehicle from Ukrainian Armor look like.

Last year, Ukrainian Armor first presented an updated version of its Novator armored vehicle in a 10-seat version, which received a number of improvements, including the creation of other vehicles based on it. We have previously shared details about this updated vehicle, but it is also interesting to note the recently published review of the Big Test project on Youtube, where you can get a close look at the new version of the Ukrainian armored vehicle.

The development of the 10-seater version of the Novator is explained by feedback from the military, who asked for a more spacious vehicle that could carry more personnel. But at the same time, the updated Novator-2 is actually not much larger than the five-seater version – its length has increased by only 10 cm, from 6.4 to 6.5 meters.

The main changes relate to the part of the vehicle that used to be a pickup truck body – now it is covered with armor and has 5 cm thick windows. Additional mine-resistant seats were also installed. In addition, for the possibility of evacuation, as well as as an additional point for firing, a hatch is installed in the rear.

Of course, the curb weight of the machine has increased from 7945 kg to 9660 kg. Accordingly, the cargo capacity increased from 1845 kg to 3340 kg. Such changes required serious work on the chassis of the Novator: the rear axle was physically reinforced, as well as the front axle, the suspension was worked on, springs were installed at the rear, two pairs of shock absorbers and an air cylinder on each side were installed, which should both positively affect the comfort of the crew and the ability to adjust the suspension and ground clearance height regardless of the load of the vehicle.

The protection remained the same as in the previous version – the vehicle can withstand 7.62 mm bullets, the V-shaped bottom can withstand the simultaneous detonation of two RGD-5 grenades, and the armored glass has been tested to withstand hits from a 12.7 mm machine gun.

A rotary platform with a combat module with any 12.7-mm machine gun can be installed on the roof of the vehicle; the company also said earlier that it could accommodate an AGS. In addition, to protect against FPV drones, Ukrainian Armor plans to equip its vehicles with dome electronic warfare systems.

The interior has remained virtually unchanged, but the compressor control unit that pumps pressure into the rear suspension cylinders has been added, located on the right side of the driver. At the same time, there is a place for a remote control unit for the combat module on the back.

As noted, the new car has become even more comfortable to operate on the highway. “But you have to be careful with this extra weight off-road. The car has become much heavier, and all this has fallen on the rear wheels. Accordingly, you need to be careful when forcing difficult areas – mud, sand – and do it with preliminary preparation,” Big Test notes.
