The procedure for buying a car has been simplified in Ukraine

Starting in August, it will become easier to buy a new car in Ukraine. Drivers will no longer need a power of attorney for vehicle registration from the owner.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution according to which it will be possible to buy already registered cars in car dealerships. This was reported on the government portal.

Resolution No. 437 of May 2, 2023 introduces some changes to the vehicle purchase procedure. Buyers will be able to entrust representative functions in the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the legal entity that sells the car or motorcycle.

Starting in August, dealers will be able to sell already registered cars to Ukrainian drivers. They will have a state license plate and a registration certificate in the name of the new owner.

A power of attorney for vehicle registration from the owner will no longer be required. The owner can specify the person whom he or she trusts to register the car directly in the sale and purchase agreement.

In addition, Ukraine will cancel “transit” license plates if the car is not delivered to the place of state registration on its own. All these innovations will take effect from August 6, 2023.
