The Russian Federation opens a mobilization military committee on the border with Georgia

A mobilization point of the Military Commissariat will be deployed at the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint on the border with Georgia

The Russian authorities decided to recruit their subjects into the army right on the border with Georgia. A mobilization military committee will work at the border crossing, reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia.

According to the report, a mobilization point of the Military Commissariat will soon be deployed at the ‘Upper Lars’ checkpoint on the border with Georgia.

The police authorities clarified that crossing the border with Georgia on foot will be allowed at this border point.

Earlier it was reported that Georgia is transferring the checkpoints to a special regime in order to let in more Russians.

We will remind, the day before, rumors about closing the border began to spread after the words of the deputy of the ‘United National Movement’ Nona Mamulashvili on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel that she unofficially learned about the intentions of the Georgian authorities to close the borders for Russians who may be subject to mobilization due to their age. Prior to that, the government had repeatedly stated that they had no plans to restrict the entry of citizens of the Russian Federation into the country, despite the commotion at the border. The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia stated that the checkpoint on the border with the Russian Federation works as usual around the clock.
