Russian media report that the Emperor Alexander III strategic missile cruiser has joined the fleet. The submarine is the seventh vessel of the 955A project.
“Emperor Alexander III is a nuclear submarine that was laid down in 2015 and launched seven years later. The submarine is 170 meters long, 13.5 meters wide and has a displacement of 24,000 tons.
The cruiser is part of the nuclear triad. It will be armed with Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles (SS-NX-30 in NATO classification). The maximum launch range is 9300 km.
An intercontinental ballistic missile can be equipped with 6-10 warheads. According to open sources, the nuclear charge will have a yield of 100 to 150 kilotons.
