The GM 200 radars are manufactured by the defense giant Thales Group. A contract with him will be concluded in the near future. The equipment to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system will be paid from the funds of a special fund created by the French authorities specifically to support Ukraine.
According to the statement of Yuriy Ignat, made by him during his speech on the telethon, the GM 200 radars are capable of detecting air targets at a distance of up to 250 km. The representative of the Air Force emphasized the fact that the presence of such radars will allow Ukrainian air defense calculations to detect Russian missiles in advance.
Ignat added that the ‘eyes’ of the Ukrainian Air Force are radio engineering troops. The introduction of Western-style radars into their armament will lead to the strengthening of the national air defense system. As a result, the percentage of enemy missiles intercepted by Ukrainian anti-aircraft guns will increase.
