The dog joined the soldiers before the liberation of Izyum in the Kharkiv region. During his combat journey, ‘Rex’ passed through many hot spots, and was also wounded in the leg, but returned after treatment.

At the mortar site of the 80th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a dog was shown delivering ammunition to the soldiers. This is reported by the General Staff on Facebook.

The dog nailed itself to the mortar battery before the liberation of Izyum. The pupil jumped into the body of the soldiers’ car and remained with them.

‘No matter how trite it sounds, but he felt that we were liberating the occupied territories. Since then, we have ‘not spilled water’ with him, says the owner of the dog, Ivan.

It is stated that during the combat work of the ‘Rex’ mortar unit, it carries ammunition in an unloader, which is attached to it. During the months of fighting, the dog visited everywhere, including the 80th Brigade of Airborne Assault Troops. During this time, he received a paw wound once, but after treatment, the dog returned to the formation.

The dog distinguishes well between ‘arrivals’ and ‘departures’, and also reacts to possible enemy fire. ‘Rex’ became a living mascot of the mortar division. He does not leave the fighters during combat sorties and is present at firing positions.
