The Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar has experienced another outage: the company has commented on the situation

On the morning of Wednesday, December 20, users of Kyivstar mobile operator reported another outage, namely a lack of connection, inability to check account status and use other services in the app. The company noted that it was aware of the problem and was working to fix it.

This is said in the comments under the company’s latest Facebook post.

The night before, the company’s official website published a post announcing the resumption of the My Kyivstar application, so all services should be available.

Instead, users write in the comments that not everything works.

In addition, some people again complain about the lack of mobile communication and mobile Internet. Some other services are also not available.

What the mobile operator’s company says

Later, Kyivstar responded to users’ complaints about the outage and said that they are aware of the difficulties with voice communication and the mobile application.

In particular, according to them, such failures are occurring in a number of cities in western and southern Ukraine.

“The company’s specialists are working to restore services. We are doing our best to fix the technical issues as soon as possible,” the company emphasized.

Hacker attack on Kyivstar: what is known

On the morning of December 12, Kyivstar users lost mobile and Internet access due to a failure Kyivstar users lost mobile communication and Internet. The company called the failure a powerful cyberattack.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported that they had opened criminal proceedings over a cyberattack on Kyivstar mobile operator.

Later, Russian hackers from the Solntsepek group claimed responsibility for the cyberattack on Kyivstar. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Russian cyberattack was aimed at civilians and had no impact on the Defense Forces.

On December 13, Kyivstar users began to receive mobile communication. Oleksiy Shaban, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, urged banks to consider using backup communication channels, as the operator’s failure led to problems with POS terminals of retail chains.

On December 15, Kyivstar restored mobile and LTE services in some regions, and later mobile Internet has become available throughout the territory controlled by Ukraine.

Later, on December 18, the mobile operator resumed the SMS service for its subscribers. The company has made Kyivstar TV available to all users free of charge for the duration of the hacker attack.
