A brigade of marine drones has been created in Ukraine

The Presidential Administration noted that the President presented battle flags to the 67th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 77th separate airmobile brigade of the Air Assault Forces of Ukraine and the 385th separate brigade of special-purpose maritime unmanned systems of the Ukrainian Navy.

The existence of this unit has not been publicly reported before. Thus, for the first time in history, the Ukrainian Navy has formed a separate brigade for the use of naval drones, Militarnyi noted.

Naval drones are an effective weapon

The head of the DIU said that naval kamikaze drones are an effective weapon. Even though the enemy destroys 60% or 70% of these UAVs.

However, the problem for them is the 30%,” Kirill Budanov emphasized.

He noted that there are cases when a drone is destroyed near a Russian ship, and then the enemy vessel goes “for long-term repairs.” Budanov added that naval drones are an effective deterrent weapon.

This is not an offensive weapon. Of course, they cannot be stepped on. But to paralyze the fleet’s activities, which, in the end, has happened, is what has been achieved. The ships do not go further than the Sevastopol raid in the northern direction, – the official emphasized.

He also added that Ukraine has already mastered the normal serial production of such drones.
