The United States officially announced the transfer of DPICM M864 cluster munitions for 155-mm howitzers to Ukraine

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have finally received cluster munitions from the United States. The White House has officially confirmed that the new aid package will include DPICM shells. We wrote about why Ukraine needs this ammunition here.

What is known

The US Department of Defense has several cluster munitions in its arsenal, including M30 for M142 HIMARS rocket artillery. However, for now, we are talking about DPICM M864 155 mm caliber shells for howitzers.

The number of cluster munitions is not specified. The transfer of the DPICM was officially confirmed by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan at a briefing at the White House.

The U.S. Department of Defense has published a detailed list of weapons to be included in a new military aid package for Ukraine. The new package will include a new batch of Stryker armored personnel carriers and M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, along with additional ammunition, rockets and interceptors for air defense systems.

  • 31 howitzers of 155 mm caliber;

  • 105-mm artillery shells;
  • 32 M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles;
  • 32 Stryker armored personnel carriers;
  • TOW missiles;
  • Javelin anti-tank missile systems;
  • Penguin unmanned aerial systems;
  • 37 tactical vehicles;
  • small arms and 28 million rounds of ammunition;
  • equipment for demining and clearing obstacles;
  • other equipment.

The new military aid package is estimated at $800 million. The weapons will not be transferred under the USAI program, which means that all of the above will soon be delivered to Ukraine.
