The United States postpones to 2024 the transfer to Ukraine of GLSDB missiles with a range of 150 km for HIMARS

By the end of the year, Boeing will deliver the first GLSDB (Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb) to the Pentagon. But the new weapons will be delivered to Ukraine only next year.

The GLSDB is an experimental weapon that is a hybrid of the GBU-39 small diameter bomb and the rocket engine from the M26 rocket. The maximum launch range is 150 km. Ukraine has highly mobile artillery missile systems M142 HIMARS for GLSDB use.

According to Reuters, by the end of December, Boeing will deliver the first batch of jets to the US Department of Defense. After that, the weapon will undergo a series of tests lasting several months.

Last year, Boeing asked the US government to transfer GLSDB to Ukraine. Since then, various dates for the start of deliveries have been announced. Now it is reported that the long-range rocket bombs may appear in the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the first half of 2024.
