The United States will give Israel high-precision SPICE bombs that can be used in the absence of GPS signal
The United States plans to provide the Israeli Defense Forces with SPICE bombs.
The information was shared by The Wall Street Journal. US officials confirmed that Israel requested SPICE bombs on November 7. They are planned to be manufactured at Rafael USA plants, and then the bombs will be transferred to the Israeli parent company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The total amount of the order is $320 million.
SPICE (Smart, Precision Impact, Cost-Effective) are precision air-to-surface bombs with a guidance system that can operate even in the absence of a GPS signal. The SPICE bombs were put into service in 2003. The first to use them was the F-16 squadron of the Israeli Air Force.
