The Witcher sequel: watch the full trailer for the third season of the Netflix show

Following a short teaser, Netflix has released a full trailer for the sequel to its flagship series The Witcher: the third season of the acclaimed TV adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, starring Henry Cavill, will start on June 29.

The third season of the show will take place immediately after the events of the previous one, which was released a year and a half ago – the sequel is an adaptation of the fourth book of the Time of Shame series (the series includes eight books in total), which is quite natural. The first season is mostly a free interpretation of some stories from the first two books of the Witcher saga (“The Last Wish” and “The Sword of Destiny”), and the plot of the second season is based on the third book “Blood of Elves” and partially on stories from the previous collections mentioned above.

Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Anja Chalotra and Joey Baty will reprise their roles. As we keep reminding you, the third season of The Witcher is the last one with Henry Cavill as Geralt, and from the fourth season onwards he will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth (the youngest of the three Hemsworth brothers, known for his roles in The Expendables 2 and The Hunger Games).

Earlier, the executive producer and showrunner Lauren Gissrich said that the new episodes will stick closer to Sapkowski’s books than the previous seasons of The Witcher; the sequel promises more magic in general, and to give Jenefer’s witchy moves a special charm, the authors were inspired by Indian dances, among other things. More fight scenes with Henry Cavill are also expected.

The third The Witcher will be released in two parts: on June 29, the first five episodes will be available on Netflix, and three more will be released almost a month later, on July 27. By the way, Netflix has already renewed The Witcher for a fifth season, with production starting soon after the fourth season is completed and due to begin soon.
