The world’s first jetpack race took place in the UAE (video)

At the end of February 2024, the first jetpack race took place in Dubai. The participants were professional pilots.

This event was made possible by the ingenuity of Gravity Industries. This British company is a pioneer in the field of human flight. In 2017, the company presented its first jet suit. Over the years, it has demonstrated its technology at more than 260 events in 45 countries.

These suits, equipped with 1500 horsepower, have more power than a high-end sports car and use jet fuel like conventional airplanes; when the participants took off from the starting point, they looked like several people in Iron Man suits.

While the concept of flying jet suits has been made popular by comic book characters, recent movies featuring them have relied heavily on graphics to make them real. Gravity Industries, on the other hand, is the closest thing you can experience today to being a real Iron Man, except for the weapons.

The first ever race

The jet suit, equipped with turbines, weighs almost 27 kilograms and can reach speeds of up to 128 kilometers per hour. It is very dangerous to fly in such a suit, so the organizers held a race over the water.
