They are afraid of drone attacks. Russians change tactics to protect Crimean bridge

Due to drone attacks, the Russian military changed its tactics for guarding the Crimean bridge. They have increased the number of vessels of the Russian border service involved in ensuring the safety of the bridge.

This was reported by Zn.ua, citing the words of Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk.

He reports that while previously only one or three boats or ships provided security for the facility, now there are five to six boats and five to six ships constantly present on the bridge.

“Sometimes they involve warships, such as the Pytlivyi patrol ship,” Pletenchuk added.

In addition, the Navy representative said that due to the threat of maritime drones, Russians have refused to transport civilian cargo by large landing ships. They focus their efforts on hiding the cargo by transporting it through the temporarily occupied Crimea or to the Novorossiysk Bay.

“They feel threatened and are hiding either behind Crimea or in the bays of ports, where they are protected by booms. They are also hiding near the second base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Novorossiysk,” Pletenchuk said.

As a reminder, the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained why the occupiers are constantly blocking the Crimean bridge. According to Natalia Humeniuk, head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces, the occupiers are trying to avoid maximum damage to the crossing, whose structure is unreliable due to the bridge attacks.
