Tor-M2DT destroyed: Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminate rare Arctic air defense system of occupants (video)

The invaders created a version of the Thor air defense system to protect important facilities in the Arctic region, so it is based on the DT-30 all-terrain vehicle.

The Ukrainian military destroyed the Russian Tor-M2DT anti-aircraft missile system, which was designed for Arctic conditions. This was reported by the Defense Blog.

The Russian army has lost one of the rare Tor-M2DT air defense systems based on the DT-30 all-terrain vehicle. It was designed for Arctic conditions, and the first batch of 12 systems was delivered to the Russian Armed Forces in November 2018. The destruction of the equipment shown in the video is dated February 2024 and was filmed in the Kherson region. The video has been published only now, along with other moments of combat use.

The Russian Federation says that Tor-M2DT should operate at extremely low temperatures down to -50 degrees Celsius. One such complex consists of two tracked modules. One houses the crew and the fire control center, and the other has a radar and two launchers for 4 anti-aircraft missiles of the 9M331 or 9M332 type. The declared range of the Tor-M2DT is 1-12 km and at an altitude of 10 meters to 10 km.

During the full-scale war, Russia lost at least 6 Tor-M2DTs, while it is known that 12 systems were in service. Perhaps the occupiers were secretly receiving new anti-aircraft missile systems.

As a reminder, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the arrival of the S-500 in the army at the end of the year.

The Tor-M2DT was first destroyed in early 2023.
