Tragedy in Kyrgyzstan: Mi-8 helicopter crashes with victims and numerous wounded on board

On the morning of Wednesday, January 17, a Mi-8 military aircraft crashed in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek. One person was killed and eight others were injured in the crash.

Defense Minister Baktybek Bekbolotov said that the crew commander was killed, Sputnik Kyrgyzstan reports. Four people are in intensive care, one of them is in serious condition. According to the minister, a black box was recovered from the helicopter, and criminal proceedings have been initiated over the crash.

“On January 17, during training flights, a helicopter of the Kyrgyz Air Defense Forces made a forced hard landing. There are victims, according to preliminary data, there is one dead person,” the country’s Defense Ministry said.

The Military Institute of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan is located in the area where the accident occurred.
