Sweden’s largest water park, worth $10.6 million, was destroyed in several powerful explosions.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Aftonbladet.

The incident occurred on Monday, February 12, in the city of Gothenburg. The series of explosions was preceded by a fire. It is currently known that 12 people were injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 10:00 local time. Almost immediately, an explosion occurred in one of the water park’s structures. Rescuers warn of the possibility of the fire spreading to neighboring buildings. A neighboring hotel and office buildings were evacuated.

“There is a lot of plastic in the structure. So (the smoke) is unhealthy to inhale. That’s why we are issuing a health warning,” said Swedish Rescue Service spokesman Klas Lüppert.

Eyewitnesses say that the explosion in the water park was so powerful that it was felt in neighboring buildings. It is also known that at least 12 people were injured in the fire.

The Oceana water park was scheduled to open this summer, and its construction cost 1.2 billion kroons ($10.6 million). It occupies 6000 square meters indoors and 4000 outdoors – there were supposed to be 14 water attractions. It was planned to accommodate 1750 visitors.
