Transnistrian leaders ask Russia for “protection from Moldova’s pressure”

On February 28, a congress of so-called deputies was held in the unrecognized “PMR”. They supported an appeal to Russia for “protection from Moldova’s pressure.”

As journalists have learned, the leaders of the “PMR” addressed their appeal to the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Kremlin proxies ask official Moscow for “measures to protect Transnistria in the face of increased pressure from Moldova.”

Putin’s henchmen are lying that Chisinau has launched an “economic war” against Transnistria, meaning the abolition of customs privileges and the blocking of negotiations with Tiraspol.

In addition, it is known that Transnistrian “deputies” also sent their appeal to the OSCE, CIS, European Parliament, International Committee of the Red Cross and UN Secretary General.

They demand that international organizations use their leverage over the team of Moldovan President Maia Sandu to allegedly “return to an adequate dialogue.”

What is known about the situation in unrecognized Transnistria

What is important to understand is that the congress of Transnistrian “deputies” of all levels in Tiraspol is the seventh such event.

The last such event took place 18 years ago.

Before the congress, there were fears that the “deputies” might call on Moscow to annex the unrecognized region to Russia, but official statements in Chisinau, Kyiv, and Tiraspol denied such assumptions.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine also denied this information.

These are signs of a deliberate disinformation campaign aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region. It is about both Moldova and Ukraine. According to the information we have, there are no plans for unrecognized Transnistria to make such decisions.
