Turkey’s Turkcell has sold Ukraine’s lifecell to a French billionaire

Turkish telecommunications holding Turkcell is selling Ukrainian telecom operator lifecell, as well as Global Bilgi LLC (a network of call centers) and Ukrtower LLC (a network of telecommunications towers in Ukraine), DEV.ua with reference to Turkcell.

“According to the decision of the Board of Directors of our company dated December 20, 2023 (the share transfer agreement was signed on December 29, 2023), all shares, together with all rights and debts of Lifecell LLC, Global Bilgi LLC and Ukrtower LLC, which are our subsidiaries, are being transferred to NJJ Capital,” the statement said.

Reportedly, “due to the uncertainty of the transaction until the completion of negotiations between the parties”, the disclosure of the relevant information was postponed. This decision was approved by the Board of Directors on May 9, 2023.

The nominal value of the shares sold is UAH 12.7 billion ($333.4 million) for Lifecell, UAH 47.2 million for Global LLC and UAH 1.96 billion for Ukrtower LLC. The selling price of one share will be determined later.

NJJ Capital is a French investment company owned by Xavier Niel.

French billionaire Xavier Niel, co-owner of Le Monde newspaper, co-owner of the rights to the song “My Way”, owner of Monaco Telecom, Salt Mobile SA, Iliad (owns, among others, the mobile operator Play in Poland).
