Two autotransformers capable of providing electricity to half a million people arrived in Ukraine

Japan and the UNDP donated two powerful autotransformers to Ukraine, which will be installed at one of Ukrenergo’s substations to meet the needs of 500,000 households. consumers

The head of the department, Herman Galushchenko, noted that the repair and manufacture of autotransformers requires significant funds and time, and the need for them is enormous given the difficult winter Ukraine is preparing for.

In his turn, UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine Jaco Silier noted that reliable energy is the foundation of any successful nation.

“By strengthening Ukraine’s energy grid, we are not only providing electricity, but also strengthening the nation’s resilience. Given the challenges, including ongoing attempts to disrupt Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, this partnership symbolizes our unwavering commitment to supporting the Ukrainian people,” he said.

Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori said that two more transformers would arrive in Ukraine by the end of the year.

“We went through the last heating season together, together with Ukrainian power engineers. And at the beginning of the new heating season, the Japanese government is handing over two transformers to the Ukrainian side. Two more will be delivered by the end of this year,” the diplomat said.

What we know about preparations for the new heating season

  • On August 12, the Ministry of Energy reported that scheduled repairs at Ukraine’s energy facilities were on schedule, but the worst situation with preparations for the new heating season was observed in the regions bordering Russia and in the frontline areas.

  • On August 18, it became known that protective structures were being erected around Trypillia and Zmiiv TPPs, which are part of Centrenergo.
  • On September 12, Shmyhal said that preparations for the heating season had reached the final stage.
