On Tuesday, September 5, the capital of the Russian Federation was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Telegram.
The ministry said in a statement that at about 03:00 Moscow time, air defense shot down an “airplane-type UAV” over the territory of the Kaluga region.
A few minutes later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of another drone. According to the agency, the UAV was shot down over the territory of the Istra district of Moscow region.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin clarified that both drones tried to attack the Russian capital. The official claims that the falling debris in the Istriansky district damaged a “domestic facility.”
Later, the head of the Russian capital said that another drone was shot down in the Tver region near the village of Zavidovo. According to him, the UAV in question, like the previous ones, was heading toward Moscow. The Ministry of Defense confirmed the destruction of the drone.
The Mash Telegram channel reported that the “Carpet” plan was announced due to the drone attack at Vnukovo airport in Moscow. Flights to Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo were also delayed.
