Uber launches a new type of travel in Europe

Uber is among those global companies that are actively involved in the process of helping Ukraine in the war against the Russian invaders. The carrier has announced the launch of a feature that will help raise funds.

Unlike some other global brands that try to sit on two chairs at the same time, Uber directly describes the situation as an “invasion of Russia”. The company actively helps to fight the humanitarian crisis.

The following message can now be found on the official website:

This week, we are launching a special “Uber for Ukraine” feature in the Uber app in 75 cities in 15 European countries. This feature allows Uber drivers to choose an option for their ride that includes a surcharge to support aid efforts in Ukraine. These contributions will go to the International Rescue Committee, which supports both internally displaced persons inside Ukraine and those who were forced to flee to neighboring countries to avoid war. ,
– the message says.

This option will be an addition to other projects of the company that have already been launched, for example:

  • In the US, the Uber Donate option is available, which allows you to donate funds directly. It has already brought in more than.2.8 million. The same button will soon be added for European countries.
  • Free Uber rides on the Polish border. This initiative offers transportation of refugees from the Polish border to other European countries.
  • Transportation of humanitarian aid, including food and basic necessities.
  • Uber is also gradually resuming operations in Ukraine. So, in Lviv, the company has already restarted its services with a focus on helping employees to provide assistance and distribute humanitarian aid. In addition, the company announces the resumption of work in Vinnytsia, and will also launch work in Ternopil and Chernivtsi for the first time.
  • All payments made for Uber rides in Ukraine at this time will go entirely to drivers – Uber will not charge a commission.
