Ukraine launches mass production of Lancet drones – Fedorov

Ukraine will soon start mass production of kamikaze drones similar to the Russian Lancets with a range of 40 kilometers, said Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

In the range up to 20 km, we have a large number of copters, FPV drones, but at night it is quite difficult to find a target within the range of 20 km. We need to impress at 40 kilometers. “Lancet-type drones are quite high-tech, and it took six months to accelerate the market in this direction,” the minister said.

Fedorov emphasized that the first contracts will be signed in the coming weeks. They will get to the front soon after that. There are already cases of such UAVs being used by the defense, but they are still rare.

It’s hard to give specific dates, but within two months, information will start appearing in Russian publics – how their tanks are burning,” Fedorov said.

The “army of drones” destroys the enemy

The Army of Drones project was launched in the summer of 2022 to ensure uninterrupted procurement of unmanned aerial vehicles for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, their repair, and the education and training of pilot-operators.

In 2023, UAH 40 billion was allocated from the state budget for this purpose, and in 2024, UAH 48 billion is envisaged.

On October 9-16, the “Army of Drones” eliminated 428 units of enemy equipment. It was an absolute record.

An absolute record from the “Army of Drones” – the fighters destroyed 428 units of Russian equipment in a week. During the Russian offensive on Avdiivka, drones proved to be very effective in defense and destruction of equipment. So, the Russians have minus 101 guns, 88 armored vehicles, 75 tanks and a bunch of other equipment,” Fedorov said at the time.

On January 15-29, 26 Russian tanks, 54 armored combat vehicles, 85 trucks and 87 occupants were destroyed thanks to the strike units provided by the “Army of Drones. In addition, the Defense Forces destroyed six self-propelled artillery systems, 52 cannons, 19 pieces of radio equipment, 309 strongholds, and three MLRS of the Russian occupiers.
