Ukraine to develop new generation robotic systems in partnership with Milrem Robotics

Milrem Robotics has signed an agreement with Ukroboronprom to jointly develop a new generation of multi-domain robotic defense systems.

This was reported by the company’s press service.

The agreement, signed during the First Defense Industry Forum (DFNC1) in Kyiv, includes several areas of development and production between Milrem Robotics and Ukroboronprom.

As a first step, the two sides will begin strategic cooperation to identify Ukraine’s needs and options for using robotic systems that can enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces.

The Ukrainian companies involved will then integrate the experience gained on the battlefield into Milrem Robotics’ existing robotic and autonomous systems and develop new products to create manned and unmanned systems.

Ukrainian defense companies will also be involved to integrate their technologies, such as weapons systems, electronic warfare and demining equipment, with Milrem robots to meet the requirements of the armed forces.

In addition, the parties are considering localizing the production of robotic platforms developed by Milrem Robotics in Ukraine.

These are systems based on the THeMIS multi-purpose platform, including the combat THeMIS Combat armed with a machine gun module, the Combat Engineering version adapted for mine detection and demining, as well as unmanned logistics vehicles and their modified CASEVAC versions for evacuating the wounded.

The multi-purpose THeMIS platform can be used as a cargo delivery vehicle or as a support platform for the transportation of heavy weapons, such as mortars.

In addition, the platform itself can be used in the Combat version as an autonomous combat system that can carry a remote-controlled module with an automatic grenade launcher, machine gun, Javelin ATGM or 30-mm automatic cannon.

The Defense Forces currently have 15 THeMIS unmanned ground vehicles at their disposal, which are used to support logistics, evacuate the wounded, and clear routes.

Today, Milrem Robotics is the world’s leading company in the field of robotic platforms. The company is involved in the development of unmanned systems for the Italian army, and its robotic platforms are participating in a competition to equip the US army.
