Ukrainian Armed Forces demonstrate destruction of Russian Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system with the help of HIMARS missile system

The artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system (SA-11 Gadfly according to NATO codification). The system was hit in the Donetsk region.

Photos of the destruction of the system were published by the charity fund “Come Back Alive”. The Russian anti-aircraft missile system was hit by the 45th separate artillery brigade using the American M142 HIMARS missile system.

“The Buk-M1 is not the newest, but still an effective medium-range air defense system. It is designed to intercept airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The first tests of the system took place in 1982, and a year later it was put into service. “The Buk-M1 is capable of countering air threats moving at an oncoming speed of up to 1 km/s.
