Ukrainian Armed Forces demonstrate “Karakurt” ground drone in action for the first time

The Ukrainian military is actively using wheeled drones to deliver ammunition to positions, remotely mine territory, gather intelligence, and blow up enemy equipment. One of the suppliers of such platforms is the Engineering Corps Association. It posted a video on its Facebook account featuring a wheeled kamikaze drone called Karakurt.

The ground drone owes its name to the most poisonous spider found in Ukraine. According to the developers, Karakurt moves through rough terrain quite quickly. The gyroboard was used as a basis for its development. It takes a team of four people two days to build one wheeled drone. The members of the association have already sent several dozen Karakurts to the front line.

The ground drone has a wheel drive. The power of the power plant is 2 kW. The drone has the following technical characteristics:

  • Payload weight: 30 kg.
  • Length of the communication channel: 1 500 м.
  • Control: remote.
  • Speed: 60 km/h.
  • Range: 5 km.

The production cost of one ground drone is UAH 48,000. To protect against electronic warfare, antennas are installed on the Karakurta antennas.
