Ukrainian Armed Forces demonstrate Scorpion self-propelled mortars for the first time

A video of Ukrainian artillerymen training has been posted on X.com. In it, you can see American-made Scorpion self-propelled mortars.

The Scorpion is based on a modernized Land Cruiser SUV. It is used to transport ammunition and a 120-mm mortar.

In the video, you can hear the command “Fire” spoken in Ukrainian. This is partly confirmed by the fact that Ukrainians are taking part in the exercises. At the same time, the transfer of American self-propelled mortars to the Ukrainian Armed Forces has never been officially announced.

Scorpion is a localized version of the Spanish-made Alacran mortar. At one time, the same system developed by Global Military Products was chosen for the Ukrainian mortar system Bars-8MMK.

The Scorpion’s fire control system is fully digital. After each shot, the reticle is automatically corrected. Due to this, the maximum deviation from the target does not exceed 2 meters. The complex is quite mobile. It takes 30 seconds to deploy. It takes about 20 seconds for the team to move out of position after a shot. The Scorpion has a range of 8 km. The mortar fires 12 shots in a minute.
